CALL FOR PAPERS

 Winter 2014, Volume 12(2)

Special Edition

Title: Social change and new challenges for the health care system

Special Issue Editors:
Adela Elena Popa – Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu
Dragos Dragoman – Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu

Outline
Social Change Review is seeking to publish a special issue on the impact of social change on health, illness and the health care system. With processes of transformation affecting all areas of the social and political life, social change has become the hallmark of the world we live in. Haferkamp şi Smelser (1992: 10) consider social change as “such an evident feature of social reality that any social-scientific theory,…, must sooner or later address it”. The proposed issue is addressing the direct or indirect implications and challenges the social change is bringing on health, illness and health care systems. We welcome papers that reflect the intense dynamics of social life in what concerns the health and illness issues, with respect to the active participation of users, innovative systems and practices of management. The papers could be based on case-studies or broader comparative analysis of cases in Europe and abroad.

Themes
Social Change Review welcomes original, interdisciplinary research, theoretical and empirical papers, based on either qualitative, quantitative or mixed methodology that reflect the current ideas and practices in the medical profession, health care assistance and also in the lay field.

Deadline:
